Former Liverpool player Emile Heskey attended the official launch event of the new LFC academy in Bangkok, marking the first time an LFC training programme has been available in Thailand.

Heskey, who scored 22 goals in his debut season with Liverpool and helped the team secure historic and memorable championships, accepted the invitation as a special guest at DBS (Denla British School). He spent his time observing the coaching and training sessions, as well as meeting the young players.

The former Liverpool striker travelled to Thailand to help the club open its annual international retail conference in Phuket and participated in several local community events last week. He then travelled to Surabaya to attend the opening of LFC’s second retail store in Indonesia, before returning to Thailand to participate in the official opening ceremony of the new LFC academy in Bangkok.

Speaking about the event, Heskey said, “It is fantastic to have the opportunity to deliver top-level coaching programmes to so many young players in Thailand, just like what is taught at the academy in Liverpool. Learning to play ‘The Liverpool Way’ will help them develop their skills in every aspect of the game, whilst also learning important life skills. And they will have fun and enjoy being a part of LFC.”

Alongside Heskey were senior LFC coaches who attended the event. The young players thoroughly enjoyed participating in the coaching sessions from the LFC International Academy programme, under the close supervision of the coaching staff.

Daniel Gavin, LFC Senior Coaching Manager, stated, “It is amazing to see such fantastic attendance. Bringing the LFC International Academy to Thailand and providing an authentic LFC coaching experience to the youth here, as well as giving local coaches the opportunity to learn from a comprehensive coach development programme, is extremely important to us. This event is another wonderful way to officially launch the new academy programme, and we are absolutely thrilled that Emile was able to join us today. It is a fantastic bonus for all the young players.”

LFC International Academy Thailand is a year-round youth player development programme that offers a unique opportunity for young players aged between 5 and 16 to learn to play “The Liverpool Way.”
